PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Location, RFID and IoT – development projects

Inductive identification, radio location, sensors and networked devices.

Technical tasks and solutions

We develop new antennas and RF assemblies, optimize existing products and integrate radio technology into real devices. The following tasks show our experience with specific frequency bands, installation situations and interfaces. The scope of a new project is determined based on your requirements.

Location, RFID and IoT

Compact LTE antenna for water meters

We designed the LTE antenna taking into account the battery, counter, water pipes, metal parts, housing and mounting position.

Simulations and prototype measurements in the installed state examined impedance matching, bandwidth, efficiency, radiation pattern, TRP/TIS, reception sensitivity and range.

Antenna structure, matching and ground concept were iteratively adjusted. We then took over the manufacturing data, testing concept, production, assembly and quality testing of the antenna.

LTE/Bluetooth transponder for asset tracking

We defined LTE bands, Bluetooth function, range, power consumption and size and selected chipsets, supply, sensors and RF components.

We developed circuit diagram and impedance controlled PCB layout including power supply, interfaces, RF paths and antenna matching. LTE and Bluetooth antennas were simulated in interaction with the battery and housing.

Prototypes were tested for S-parameters, efficiency, TRP/TIS, output power, reception sensitivity and range. Measurement results were incorporated into the layout, antennas and documents for sample and series production.

WLAN/GNSS in an outdoor light

We evaluated WLAN at 2.4 and 5 GHz as well as GNSS in the L-band in combination with metal housing, reflector, LED driver, power supply and covers.

Various antenna positions and integration variants were electromagnetically simulated. We looked at impedance matching, decoupling, polarization, radiation pattern, efficiency and possible shadowing.

Experimental setups and antenna measurements made it possible to compare WLAN coverage and GNSS reception. From this we derived recommendations for positioning, housing integration and RF adaptation.

Bluetooth AoA antenna array

We defined the number and geometry of the antenna elements, element spacing, phase reference, polarization and decoupling for the angle of arrival method.

Development included EM simulation, feeding, matching, RF switching and a symmetrical PCB layout with controlled impedance. The array was integrated with a Bluetooth module and evaluation electronics.

We measured S-parameters, decoupling, efficiency, phase position and radiation pattern on prototypes and optimized array geometry and RF paths based on the results.

Bluetooth transponder for positioning

We selected Bluetooth SoC, RF components, crystals and supplies and developed circuit diagram and PCB layout with controlled impedance.

The integrated antenna, the RF path and the matching network were simulated taking the housing into account and designed for range and stable wireless performance.

We manufactured and characterized prototypes based on S-parameters, output power, reception sensitivity, antenna efficiency and range and accompanied manufacturing documents and production testing.
