PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Antennas and radio integration – development projects

Integrated antennas, multiband solutions and radio modules in real installation space.

Technical tasks and solutions

We develop new antennas and RF assemblies, optimize existing products and integrate radio technology into real devices. The following tasks show our experience with specific frequency bands, installation situations and interfaces. The scope of a new project is determined based on your requirements.

Antennas and radio integration

Bluetooth module for power tools

We defined the radio standard, range, transmission power, supply, interfaces and installation space and selected the Bluetooth SoC, RF components, filters and matching network.

We developed the circuit diagram and impedance-controlled PCB layout as well as the integrated antenna, taking the housing and installation situation into account. EM simulations were used to optimize impedance matching, efficiency and radiation.

After building and commissioning the prototypes, we measured S-parameters, output power, antenna efficiency and range. The measurement results were incorporated into the circuit, layout and antenna as well as into the production documents.

Bluetooth antenna for an electronic lock

We examined the available installation space and the electromagnetic interactions between the 2.4 GHz antenna, circuit board, battery, housing and metal lock mechanism.

In the EM simulation we compared the antenna position, feeding, ground routing and matching network. We tested S-parameters, bandwidth, efficiency, radiation pattern and range on modified prototypes.

From the comparison of simulation and measurement, we derived concrete changes for antenna position, impedance matching and housing integration and evaluated the connection quality when installed.

Antennas for counter-drone systems

We developed antenna concepts for the specified bandwidths, performance requirements, polarizations, directional characteristics and installation environments.

We examined impedance matching, gain, field distribution and mutual influence using EM simulations. The antenna structure, feed, mechanical structure and thermal resilience were coordinated.

We characterized bandwidth, gain, radiation pattern, polarization, efficiency and power handling on samples. We prepared manufacturing documentation and a test concept, and supported assembly and testing.

Multi-standard antennas on a system board

We planned to have one LTE antenna, two Wi-Fi and two VTX antennas, as well as one each of UWB, Bluetooth and dual-band GNSS antennas on the same system board.

Antenna positions, ground planes, interference sources and shielding were evaluated together. EM simulations and layout optimization addressed matching, decoupling, coexistence, and controlled impedance; the GNSS path included LNA, filtering and power supply.

We measured S-parameters, decoupling, efficiency and radiation pattern and then optimized antenna positions, RF paths and matching networks for system integration.

LTE antennas in a telemetry sensor

We evaluated the influence of the circuit board, housing, battery, sensors, cables and mounting position on the LTE antennas of a compact sensor.

We measured S-parameters, bandwidth, efficiency, decoupling, TRP/TIS and directional characteristics on modified prototypes and compared antenna variants under realistic operating conditions.

We optimized the antenna position, RF path, matching, ground concept and decoupling and documented the measures for series-oriented integration.

LTE/WLAN/Bluetooth module for vehicles

We developed a module with three LTE, two WLAN and one Bluetooth antennas. For antenna positions and housings, we considered MIMO capability, coexistence, and mechanical integration.

EM simulations and samples were used to optimize impedance matching, efficiency, feed points, cable runs and decoupling. We measured S-parameters, efficiency, radiation pattern and mutual influence.

The series implementation included production documents, parts lists, testing concepts, injection molds for the antenna housing as well as support and optimization of production.

LTE antenna for electronic displays

We analyzed LTE bands, installation space, ground planes and the interference effects of the display, electronics, housing and cables.

EM simulation and sample testing in the actual installed condition accompanied the antenna structure, feeding and matching. S-parameters, bandwidth, efficiency, reception sensitivity and range were measured.

We optimized the RF path and mechanical integration and took over manufacturing documents, testing concept as well as manufacturing and testing of the antenna.

433 MHz PCB antenna in vehicle key

We developed an antenna concept for the compact vehicle key and took into account the battery, buttons, housing, hand position and installation position.

EM simulations supported the optimization of antenna structure, feeding, ground plane, matching and impedance-controlled RF line.

We measured S-parameters, bandwidth, efficiency, radiation pattern, output power and range on prototypes and adjusted the layout based on the results.

Internal LTE antenna for telemetry data collector

We recorded the LTE bands, size and installation situation with battery, sensors, circuit board and housing and developed an internal antenna concept.

EM simulation and measurement in the installed state were used to coordinate the antenna structure, supply, matching, ground concept and RF path. S-parameters, efficiency, TRP/TIS, reception sensitivity and range were evaluated.

We then took over design for manufacturing, manufacturing documents, testing concept as well as production, assembly and quality testing of the antennas.

Z-Wave and Bluetooth for connected displays

We developed Z-Wave and 2.4 GHz Bluetooth antennas for the existing installation space and examined the influence of the display, housing and surrounding electronics.

Simulations and measurements covered impedance matching, bandwidth, efficiency, radiation pattern, decoupling, reception sensitivity and range in the real installation state.

The results led to changes to antenna structures, matching, ground routing and RF paths; the final configurations and measurement results were documented.
